Also some people in our class need to stop talking while Mr. Schick is talking because for some people that is very distracting.

Class

In class today we went over Gods and Goddesses in Ancient Greece. I had a little bit of background with Gods and Goddesses before I came to JC. At my old school we did a whole unit on them and at the end we dressed up. Just like Mr. Schick said today in class. Some of the Gods and Goddesses we talked about where Posieden, Zeus, Apollo, Demeter, Afridite, Athena and many more. Mr. Schick didn't go into crazy details on the Gods and Goddesses because we know a little bit about them our self. We also went over Socrates life and trial to death. We all know Socrates story pretty well because in every unit we do he always makes his way in there some how. Its definitely not because he Mr. Schick favorite or anything. : )

Plato

Writer, Philosopher (c. 428 BCE–c. 348 BCE)
Born circa 428 B.C.E., ancient Greek philosopher Plato was a student of Socrates and a teacher of Aristotle. Plato's impact on philosophy and the nature of humans has had a lasting impact far beyond his homeland of Greece. His work covered a broad spectrum of interests and ideas: mathematics, science and nature, morals and political theory.

Three Examples of Ancient Greek Building

The Coliseum
By the 20th century, a combination of weather, natural disasters, neglect and vandalism had destroyed nearly two-thirds of the original Coliseum, including all of the arena’s marble seats and its decorative elements.

The Porch of the Maidens:
better known as Caryatids, is on the southwest side of the Erechtheum. The Maidens hold up the top of the           buildings like Columns.

Temple Concord was founded in 1839 by German immigrants drawn to upstate New York by the new Erie      Canal.  The group incorporated under the laws of the State of New York on February 24, 1942, first took the name  “Comrades of Peace” and shortly thereafter Keneseth Shalome, which they translated in formal English as Temple Society of Concord

Class today

In class today Mr. Schick told us about how cyber days work for the teachers. He told us how we are supposed to have at least 45 minutes of busy work. 45 minutes is a long time and a little outrageous to me. I see it being more like 20-25 minutes but 45 is longggggg. He also told us about how he kind of created cyber days, but he didn't want them to be like they are now. He really doesn't have a say now.

Videos on Egypt

Video 1: Egyptian leader son has a son that set camp the base of the Pyramid. Came with a bunch of his people so that he could get inside and get the dead pharaohs treasure. They had to look for a certain rock to open the door of the pyramid. Opening the door leads to a winding passage that leads to the grave. There was many different rooms and passages inside the pyramid and there was no treasure inside.

Video 2: They told us about Heraclities. Then they showed us the step by step process of rapping a mummy. The way they rapped him was different than most.

Video 3: John Green told us about Egyptians ways on basins and irrigation, sail boats with food transport.  Egyptians where berried with their things so they could use them in the afterlife.

5 AMAZING INEVENTIONS IN EGYPT

1.   One of the more obvious ones are the Pyramids. They are one of the most amazing and different structures on the face of this Earth. Inside the pyramids are so many crazy passage ways and rooms.
2.   Eye makeup is one of the best inventions that the Egyptians made to me. They wore eye make up all the time. Even the men wore it. It was just so great that everyone wanted to have it. The Pharaohs wore it the most.
3.   Egyptians started writing message and stories on their walls. They would have their own little stories about how there people would work and get things done. Somewhere about the Pharaohs and some were about the lower class.
4.   The Egyptian people where the first people to make a big deal about their hair. Everyone had to be in style with the Pharaoh. Their hair, there facial hair, there make up had to be perfect so they all look in style.
5.   The world would be very hard to live in without a calendar. Without the calendar for the Egyptians wouldn't know when the Nile River was going to flood over. They would know when it was going to drain so they could get the rick soil that they need for their crops.

Class

In class we went over what was on the rest of the Prezi.

Mr. Schick was disappointed with some of the results, but i know that I'm going to try so much harder next time because today wasn't good at all.

Guns, Germs, and Steal

Jared Diamonds

Papnewguinea is where Jared is traveling. Why do men have so much cargo? We Newguineans have so little?

1. Large civilization population

2. Advanced technology

3. Well organized work force

Papnewguinea still living like cave men. Sego major food product in that area. Barely helped start archaeologist is discovering. Certain places started to have more of certain things. Granary place for the grain. China place for rice. Americas place for corn. Africa place millet. yams, and sorghum. Most productive crops make fro the most productive civilization. It came down to geographic luck. Middle East had wheat and barely.

There are 14 species of domesticated animals. They are goats, sheep, pigs, cows, horses, donkeys, Bactria camels, Arabians camels, water buffalo, llamas, reindeer, yaks, mithans, and Bali cattle.
